The jail opened in 1984 as an early small direct-supervision facility. Its present-custody report can answer who is held now, while older booking detail requires PCSO Records.

In 2023, people held temporarily in Eagle County returned after Pitkin work added an accessible cell, a booking and release dress-out space with a shower, and lighting and flooring improvements. PCSO still identified classification limits in the small facility.
